The paper generalizes the one-dimensional theorem of \textit{G. Lochs} [Abh. Math. Semin. Univ. Hamb. 27, 142--144 (1964; Zbl 0124.28003)] which compares two different number-theoretic expansions of a number to the two-dimensional setting. It is shown that the relative growth of information in the two-dimensional case depends on the entropy of the partitions (defining the expansions) and the geometry of their shapes.
