The so-called Havrda-Charvat informational entropy is extended to quantum systems by substituting the density matrix for the probability density; and, after deriving a Schwarz quantum inequality, this generalization is used to study the fluctuations in the equilibrium of a quantum ensemble, and the quantum-mechanical fluctuations of physical systems.
