In the present paper the two authors continue the study of nearly normal and nearly fully normal spaces started in a previous paper. It seems important to examine how far results concerning normal spaces can be extended to nearly normal spaces. Thus they achieve a characterization of nearly normal spaces which is an analogue to Urysohn's lemma and offer a number of necessary conditions for near normality by showing that certain implications hold in nearly normal spaces. At the end the authors give an example showing that all these implications cannot be reversed.
