The author studies the question when the dual space to a commutative Banach algebra has the Radon-Nikodým property. The main result is that if \(A\) is such a unital algebra, then \(A^*\) has the Radon-Nikodým property if and only if \(A^*\) is the closed linear span of the complex homomorphisms.
