The author investigates the nonlinear \(T\)-periodic functional difference equation \[ \Delta x(n) + a(n) x(n) = f\Big(n,x(n),x(n-\tau_1(n)),\dots,x(n-\tau_m(n))\Big). \] By applying a fixed point technique concerning Fredholm index zero operators the existence of at least one \(T\)--periodic solution is established. Three examples illustrate the main result.
