The author develops an improved approximation for solving time-dependent inhomogeneous parabolic initial-boundary value problems. The method is based on a Chebyshev series expansion. Having relaxed the stability criterion the spectral accuracy in time is achieved. The approximation derived in the paper can be useful for solving quasi-linear parabolic evolution problems by exponential time differencing methods.
