The main result in this paper is an example that shows that the class of generalized abelian rings is a proper subclass of the class of weakly generalized abelian rings. Furthermore, it is shown that, for an exchange ring \(R\) with stable range 1, \(K_0(R)\) is an \(\ell\)-group if and only if \(R\) is a weakly generalized abelian ring.
