This paper extends the result of \textit{H. Šmigoc} [Linear Algebra Appl. 393, 365--374 (2004; Zbl 1075.15012)] for a reachability condition of the spectra of nonnegative matrices to the verbatim condition for the nonnegative symmetric inverse eigenvalue problem by using majorization theory and a constructive proof.
