A survey of a school of philosophers that arose in Berlin and, after the emigrations of the 1930s, continued in the United States. The school as a whole was oriented more towards issues in the philosophy of science, rather than foundations of mathematics. But many of the people involved had mathematical backgrounds, and, for example, Hilary Putnam had a hand in the solution of Hilbert's Tenth Problem on Diophantine equations.
