Based on results by \textit{J. da Providência} and \textit{N. Bebiano} [Linear Algebra Appl. 78, 187--198 (1986; Zbl 0592.15003)], the author proves the Marcus-de Oliveira determinantal conjecture (OMC) in the case in which the matrices are both scalar multiples of unitary matrices.
