Stability of associated primes of monomial ideals (Q873812)

Let \(I\) be an ideal of a commutative noetherian ring \(R\). A well-known result of \textit{M. Brodmann} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 74, 16--18 (1979; Zbl 0395.13008)] says that there exists a positive number \(B\) such that Ass\((I^n/I^{n+1})\) = Ass\((I^B/I^{B+1})\) for all \(n\geqslant B\). Very little is known about the number \(\,B\). In this paper the author finds an explicit value for \(\,B\,\) for a monomial ideal \(\,I\,\) in a polynomial ring \(\,R= k[t_1,\dots, t_r]\,\) over a field \(\,k\).
