Characteristic classes and singular varieties (Q873817)

In the last 40--45 years, various authors introduced various characteristic classes for singular varieties (Schwartz, Mather, MacPherson, Fulton). A natural question that arises is what connections exist between these characteristic classes. In this paper, the author's proves that all known characteristic classes for singular varieties contain (under suitable hypotheses) a cycle defined by the same formula issued from obstruction theory.
