The authors deal with a modification of the thermodynamically consistent model for the description of the kinetics of phase-transitions proposed by O. Penrose and P. Fife. In particular, they adress the question of the existence of the global attractor for a parabolic-hyperbolic PDE's system of Penrose-Fife type. The construction of the associated semigroups is presented and dissipativity property as well as the existence of the global attractor is shown. Moreover, the authors compare their results with the corresponding ones on the parabolic-hyperbolic Caginalp's model and formulate some related open questions.
