For describing a dynamic linear elastic contact problem with nonmonotone skin effects, the authors treat a Cauchy problem governed by a wave-type hyperbolic hemivariational inequality. They establish an existence result for a class of evolution hemivariational inequalities. This result follows from a theorem on the existence of solutions to an abstract evolution inclusion. For the latter, using the parabolic regularization method, they obtain the solution as a limit as the viscosity term tends to zero.
