This paper deals with an one-dimensional model of heat equations defined in the ice and water layers, subject to either a fixed temperature substrate or a cooling condition. Equations and boundary conditions are non-dimensionalized to highlight the dominant terms. An asymptotic solution is validated by comparison with results from a numerical scheme which solves the fall Stefan problem. The numerical solution in the substrate and ice is given by constructing a tri-diagonal matrix.
