The authors modify the definition of T-weak compatibility of a multi-valued map and a single-valued map due to \textit{H. K. Pathak} [Acta Math. Hung. 67, No. 1-2, 69--78 (1995; Zbl 0821.54027)]. Then a common fixed point theorem is proved under this new definition and a generalized contractive condition involving five control functions, further some examples are also given.
