Markov pairs are pairs of coordinates from some solution \((x,y,z)\) in positive integers of the equation \[ x^2+y^2+z^2=3xyz. \] The authors prove that the greatest prime factor of \(xy\) tends to infinity with \(\max(x,y,z)\).
