Convex, rotationally symmetric liquid bridges between spheres (Q883847)

The author shows that a convex unduloidal liquid bridge between two balls is a constrained local energy minimum for the capillary problem, and that a convex nodoidal bridge between two balls is unstable. This report solves a historical conjecture that relates the physics of this configuration to the geometry of constant mean curvature surfaces. An excellent article.
