Summary: We consider irrational rotations of the circle \(Tx=x+\alpha\pmod 1\) and study the asymptotic behavior of sums of the type \(S_{n}=\sum _{k=0}^{n - 1}\pi _{k}\) with \(\pi _{k}=\pm 1\), the sign being determined by the location of \(T^{k}x\) with respect to a binary partition.
