This paper deals with boundary value problems for elliptic second-order partial differential equations with highly discontinuous coefficients and homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. The problems are posed on a polynomial region \(\Omega\) which is a union of disjoint two-dimensional polygonal subdomains \(\Omega\) of diameter \({\mathcal O}(H_i)\). The full discontinuous Galerkin (DG) discrete problem is reduced to the Schur complement problem with respect to unknowns on the interfaces of the subdomains \(\Omega_i\) and discrete harmonic functions are defined in the DG sense. Numerical tests are reported.
