Veronesean representations of Moufang planes (Q905042)

Starting from an axiomatic description, the authors fully classify all Veronesean caps. With one exception these are all obtained by the Veronesean embedding of the projective plane over a quadratic alternative division algebra. The exception arises from purely inseparable field extensions in characteristic 2, which leads to a new type of Veronesean, called inseparable. The projective representations of the associated groups are studied. They are irreducible, except again for the inseparable case. In this case, these representations are indecomposable, but reducible. Their irreducible quotient and kernel are determined.
