The author introduces and studies a notion of amenability for Banach modules. Among other things, he proves that the \(\phi\)-ergodic property of a Banach module \(X\) is related to some other properties such as a Hahn-Banach-type extension property and he characterizes \(\phi\)-amenability of a Banach algebra with a \(\phi\)-mean of norm one in terms of its ideals.
