The usual Gauss map of a hypersurface in a Euclidean space is extended for hypersurfaces in a Lie group with a left invariant metric and some classical results as Hadamard's theorem and the Gauss-Bonnet theorem are generalized. Other results which apply to the 3-dimensional sphere and to the Euclidean spaces are also obtained.
