This paper answers a question left open in the author's classification table [in Proc. Symp. Pure Math. 9, 33-62 (1966; Zbl 0238.20052)]. More precisely, if, over a given field k, there is a central division algebra of dimension 16 and of order 4 in the Brauer group, then there is a group of type \(E^{123}_{8,1}\) over k(t).
