It is shown that ``natural'' versions of \(\beta\) and \(\phi\)-mixing conditions for strictly stationary random fields on \({\mathbb{R}}^ d\) are equivalent to forms of m-dependence. The author pointed out that \textit{R. L. Dobrushin} [see Teor. Veroyatn. Primen. 13, 201-229 (1968; Zbl 0177.452)] had a key idea related to the proof of the main result.
