Uniqueness of definition of piecewise constant thermal conduction equation coefficients (Q912314)

\textit{A. M. Denisov} [Zh. Vychisl. Mat. Mat. Fiz. 22, 858-864 (1982; Zbl 0543.35100)] proved uniqueness theorem for an unknown piecewise constant coefficient of a thermal conduction equation under special boundary conditions (thermal conductivity was assumed to be equal to thermal diffusivity in each layer). The present paper elaborates on the method of Denisov (loc. cit.). We prove the uniqueness theorem for effective parameters of a medium acted upon by thermal surface action (based on observations of the surface temperature field).
