Equilibrium shocks in plane deformations of incompressible elastic materials (Q912684)

In this work the authors studied the equilibrium shock in plane deformation of incompressible elastic materials. For this, they studied the piecewise smooth plane deformation, plane constitutive relations and the equilibrium equations of an isotropic and incompressible elastic material. They obtained the explicit necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of piecewise homogeneous equilibrium states, and characterized the set of all such states. In particular, a simple expression is derived for the ``driving traction'' on a surface of discontinuity in the deformation gradient. This work is quite interesting and might be useful for those researchers working in the area of finite deformations.
