The classification of Steiner quadruple systems of size 32 is considered in relation to associated algebras with a ternary operation q satisfying (i) \(q(x,y,z)=q(x,z,y)=q(z,x,y)\); (ii) \(q(x,x,y)=y\); (iii) \(q(x,y,q(x,y,z))=z\). A classification when the size is 16 was given by \textit{C. C. Lindner} and \textit{A. Rosa} [Discrete Math. 21, 147-181 (1978; Zbl 0398.05015)].
