Exact solitary wave solutions of the generalized Fisher equation (Q916916)

By using the transformations \(u=v^{2/\alpha}\), \(dv/d\xi =av(1-v)\), \(\xi =x-ct\), the paper gives the exact solitary wave solution of the generalized Fisher equation \[ u_ t-u_{xx}=u-u^{\alpha +1},\quad \alpha \in (0,\infty). \] Two other applications of the above transformations are also mentioned.
