For a free boundary problem arising in a phase change process modeling, a straightforward finite difference discretization is taken, then transformed, through integration on mesh elements, into triangular systems of algebraic equations. Its accuracy analysis, although lacking theoretical results, contains some computer experiments taken as convergence evidence.
