The authors recently studied the free and forced convective flow of fluid through a porous medium between two infinite vertical parallel plates. But this study does not give us any idea about the flow of a radiating gas through the porous medium. The radiating medium modifies the temperature and the velocity field. So \textit{R. Greif}, \textit{I. S. Habib} and \textit{J. C. Lin} [J. Fluid Mech. 46, 513 ff. (1971)] studied the free and forced convection flow of a radiating gas by restricting the analysis to the optically thin limit. In this case, the gas emits but only absorbs radiation emitted by the boundaries. Such a physical situation in case of a porous medium between two parallel plates has not been studied in the literature. Hence the motivation to undertake this study. In chemical engineering processes, such a study will be found most useful.
