In the present paper a modified definition of fuzzy set is proposed, representing a generalization in the pure mathematical sense but at the same time specifying the feasible applications. Here, a (modified) fuzzy set appears as a partially ordered subclass of a product class \(U\times V\times [0,1]\) such that the classes U and V represent (real or imaginary) objects and predicates definable in a natural language, respectively.
