The soil behavior is often analysed in terms of perfectly plastic theory. The material reaches a maximum shear strength under loading, and the plastic flow develops under constant state of stress. This limit is not affected by the history of loading. Even if strong induced anisotropy exists, it is swept away by the plastic flow. Hence, in any constitutive equations for such materials, the perfectly plastic behaviour should be introduced. In this small note, attempt has been made to include it. An application of the experimental results with sand is presented. The reviewer feels that the analytic treatment should have been done in more details.
