Let G be a compact abelian group. The paper under review studies the so- called polynomial operators on \(L^ 1(G)\), i.e. operators with range of the form \(\sum^{n}_{k=1}\lambda_ k\chi_ k(x)\), \(\lambda_ k\in {\mathbb{C}}\), where \(\{\chi_ k\}\) is a fixed finite set in the dual group \(\hat G.\)
