    Considered are stationary linear systems (X,U,V,A,B,C,D), where the state space X, the input space U and the outspace V are Hilbert spaces and A:X\(\to X\), B:U\(\to X,C:X\to V,D:U\to V\) are bounded linear operators. It is shown that every system admits a transformation into a cascade of controllable and completely uncontrollable (or observable and completely unobservable) subsystems. The relations between various decomposition schemes, corresponding to the same invariant subspaces are considered.
