The author studies the zeros of the function \(j_m\), the unique modular function over a rational function field that has polar part ``\(q^{-m}+O(q)\)'': they are on the ``unit circle'' boundary of a standard fundamental domain, and transcendental if the characteristic of the ground field is odd.
