Using a linearization method some special \({}_2F_2\) hypergeometric series can be written as a sum of two \({}_1F_1\) series. This leads to some transformation formulas for the \({}_2F_2\) hypergeometric function. Then series rearrangements lead to even more transformation formulas. In the third and last section a list of \(q\)-analogues of these transformation formulas is given for the \({}_2\phi_2\) basic hypergeometric function. Details are left out due to space limitations.
