A new technique of finding a solution of the quaternion equality constrained least squares problem is proposed. By means of the complex representation of a quaternion matrix, the authors study the relationship between the solutions of the quaternion equality least squares problem and that of complex equality constrained least squares problem. A short description of the corresponding algorithm is presented and a second order example illustrating the method is given.
