The author applies a finite element technique to some variable coefficient-matrix Poisson equations. In fact he shows that the mixed covolume method is in close relationship with the mixed finite element method, i.e., for quasi-uniform triangulations there exists a superconvergence estimate between the solutions obtained using these methods.
