Summary: We prove the global existence and study decay properties of the solutions to the Cauchy problem for a wave equation with a bounded nonlinear dissipative term of the type \[ u''-\Delta u+\lambda^2(x)u+ g(u')=0, \] where \(g:\mathbb R\to\mathbb R\) is continuous, non-decreasing and bounded.
