The paper computes the exact number of the largest degree in a lexicographic Gröbner bases of projective nonsingular curve in generic position. This generalizes/improves earlier results by \textit{D. Bayer} and \textit{M. Stillman} [Invent. Math. 87, 1--11 (1987; Zbl 0625.13003)], \textit{I. Bermejo} and \textit{M. Lejeune-Jalabert} [Commun. Algebra 27, No. 7, 3211--3220 (1999; Zbl 0978.14049)], \textit{M. L. Green} [Prog. Math. 166, 119--186 (1998; Zbl 0933.13002], and \textit{A. Conca} and \textit{J. Sidman} [J. Symb. Comput. 40, No. 3, 1023--1038 (2005; Zbl 1120.14050)].
