The authors study the flow lines defined by integral curves of certain current field which is associated with a complex scalar field near a general phase vortex. They show that ``the vortex at the origin is either a center or a focus under a generic condition''. Sufficient conditions for the vortex to be a focus are given in terms of the Lyapunov numbers.
