The authors study extensions of Beatty sequences, namely the \((s,t)\)-sequences introduced by the second author [see \textit{A. S. Fraenkel}, Ann. Comb. 2, No. 3, 197--210 (1998; Zbl 0942.91015)]. They bound the excess of elements in any two subwords of the same length (compare with the balance property for Sturmian sequences) and that each value of this excess is taken infinitely often.
