The authors prove that a Prüfer domain with the property that every locally finitely generated ideal is finitely generated is a Prüfer domain of finite character. Thus a conjecture of \textit{S. Bazzoni} [J. Algebra 184, 613--631 (1996; Zbl 0856.13014)] is solved.
