Computational parametric Willmore flow (Q957936)

The author proposes a method for computing Willmore flows, tracking the motion of a surface with speed governed by its bending energy. The method uses an approximation of the surface by triangles and a finite element method on the approximating surface. The basis functions are piecewise linear, requiring the use of supplementary variables for derivatives of second order. It is shown that the method is consistent.
