The author presents a bound for the infinity norm of the inverse of a weakly chained diagonally dominant matrix which is sharper than the one given by \textit{P. N. Shivakumar, J. J Williams, O. Ye} and \textit{C. A. Marinov} [SIAM J. Matrix Anal. Appl. 17, No. 2, 298--312 (1996; Zbl 0853.15013)].
