A note on the rank of diagonals (Q960839)

A topological space \(X\) has a rank \(k\)-diagonal, \(k\) a natural number, if there is a countable family \(\{\mathcal O_n\;/\;n\in\omega\}\) of open covers of \(X\) such that \(\{x\}=\bigcap_{n\in\omega}\text{st}^k(x,\mathcal O_n)\) for each \(x\in X\), where \(\text{st}^k\) is the \(k^{\text{th}}\) star. For each \(k\geq 4\) there is constructed a Tychonoff space with a rank \(k\)-diagonal but without a rank \((k+1)\)-diagonal.
