A modular surface corresponds to the diagonal flow on the space \(SL_2(\mathbb{R})/SL_2(\mathbb{Z})\). The last space is homeomorphic to the 3-sphere \(S^3\) with the trefoil knot \(\tau\) removed. In this note the author examines some asymptotic questions on linking numbers of closed geodesics of this flow and the knot \(\tau\).
