Moufang sets of type \(F_4\). (Q974658)

Moufang sets are the Tits buildings associated with simple algebraic groups of relative rank one. The authors consider simple algebraic groups of exceptional type \(F_4\) and describe the corresponding Moufang sets explicitly in terms of absolute points of polarities of octonion planes (i.e.\ proper Moufang planes). Moreover, it is shown that every automorphism of the exceptional unital arising from such a polarity is induced by a collineation of the ambient projective octonion plane.
