This paper is about the universal deformation ring of a group representation. Specifically, the authors consider the symmetric group \(S_4\) in characteristic \(2\), and show that for modules with trivial stable endomorphism ring, only three different universal deformation rings can occur. This confirms a conjecture of Bleher and Chinburg in this particular case. The paper is very nicely written. Section 2 gives some background on deformation rings; this is probably too short for non-experts. Section 3 sets out some information on the representation theory of \(S_4\) in characteristic \(2\), and some results concerning Auslander-Reiten quivers. Sections 4-7 contain the proof of the main result. This is very well organised and easy to read. In summary, this is a very nice paper, which gives some interesting data on universal deformation rings.
